Associate

Emma is an associate in the employment team, based in London. She frequently acts for individuals, staff associations and their members, educational institutions, and corporate clients across a range of sectors including hospitality, financial services and education.

She is experienced in all stages of workplace disputes, from initial internal complaints and grievances, through to litigation and final hearings. Emma has litigated matters involving unfair dismissal, automatic unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, discrimination, equal pay and whistleblowing claims, amongst others. Emma also advises on day-to-day HR matters including on workplace issues, reviewing and drafting company policies, and disciplinary and grievance issues. She frequently drafts and reviews employment contracts, consultancy agreements and director’s service agreements both for corporate clients and for individuals.

I am an employment lawyer experienced in a broad range of employment issues. I regularly advise employee and employer clients at all stages of employment disputes and aim to give practical, commercial and straightforward advice.

Emma has experience in restructuring and redundancies and regularly advises employers on settlement terms, and reviews settlement agreements on behalf of employees. She is practiced in negotiating advantageous settlement terms for her client. Emma qualified in March 2023, having joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in March 2021. She is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the firm’s age committee.

Multimillion pound settlement

Assisting a senior employee in the finance sector in drafting a grievance and pursuing employment claims against his employer, resulting in a seven-figure settlement figure, achieved without the need for litigation.

Unfair dismissal and discrimination claim

Advising a senior executive on her unfair dismissal and discrimination claims, up to and including the final hearing.

C-suite redundancy

Advising an independent school on a redundancy round to include the chief executive officer and other high-ranking individuals.

HR advisory

Advising a HR team in the hospitality industry in relation to a grievance alleging discriminatory behaviour. The claim against the company was dropped without Employment Tribunal involvement.

Employment documentation

Reviewing and drafting company policies and the staff handbook for an international public listed company. Advising HR on English employment matters.
