Emma Beeson

Senior associate

Emma is a senior associate in the medical negligence team. She has particular expertise in gynaecology and urogynaecology, leading the firm’s gynaecology team. Emma also heads up the firm’s maternal injury team, having particular expertise of maternal death claims.

Praised by clients and colleagues for being able to manage cases involving sensitive issues for both men and women with care and discretion, Emma is noted for her approachable nature. She is passionate about raising awareness of issues relating to women’s health whilst also being an advocate for issues of men’s health, often considered to be taboo. She is a member of the firm’s gender committee and has spoken at a number of events on issues of women’s health, such as ‘Women of the World’ in London. Emma represents families looking to investigate the death of a loved one and has experience of representing clients at inquests, helping them to participate in the process and supporting them throughout.

I am passionate about what I do and strive to support my clients the best I can through what can sometimes be a challenging and upsetting process. It is important to me that my client’s case is handled sensitively and with compassion.

After joining the firm as a trainee, Emma qualified into the medical negligence team in 2013 and was promoted to senior associate in 2018. She is a member of the AvMA Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel and won the AvMA/PIC Rising Clinical Negligence Star Award in 2018. She is based in Basingstoke but acts for clients throughout the country and is able to see them in the firm’s Basingstoke, Reading, Oxford, London and Birmingham offices.

Settling a number of claims for women against the same defendant trust in relation to negligent urogynaecology surgery including the use of transvaginal tapes for incontinence.

Achieving settlement for a client who suffered a life-changing injury after having undergone negligent circumcision surgery.

Settlement following baby’s death

Acting for parents whose baby sadly passed away shortly after birth and securing a settlement for both the mother and father after they sustained psychological injuries.

Injuries to minors

Settling several claims involving injuries to minors and attending court approval hearings following settlement.

Delay in treating sepsis

Working on a complex case involving a delay in treating sepsis leading to the need for a bilateral forefoot amputation.
