Senior associate

Ben is a senior associate with a broad practice, specialising in the resolution of complex disputes through the courts and by way of international arbitration. He has experience of working with a broad range of clients, including listed companies, SMEs, and high net worth individuals, as well as public and third sector bodies.

He has also acted for clients across a variety of sectors including technology, sport, media and the creative industries, financial services, energy, retail, manufacturing, and logistics. His experience encompasses contractual disputes, company law, professional negligence, misuse of confidential information, data protection, and intellectual property infringement. Ben also has expertise in reputation management, with experience of proceedings involving defamation, privacy and harassment. He aims to achieve the earliest possible resolution of his clients’ disputes, making use of mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He also has experience of managing cases to a successful outcome at trial where necessary.

Combining a keen eye for detail with a pragmatic approach, I have the breadth of experience to spot the key issues and most important pressure points in a case at the outset. I help my clients to leverage their strengths and work strategically to resolve their disputes as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Ben read law at the University of Oxford and obtained a full scholarship to study the Legal Practice Course at the University of the West of England. He is a member of LawInSport, the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, and the Royal Television Society. He has contributed to the Entertainment Law Review.

Advising on various cases in the film and TV, music, theatre, and publishing industries involving disputes with talent, producers, agents, publishers, and investors.

Technology disputes

Advising on various cases involving the ownership of, and other rights relating to, computer software, including allegations of copyright infringement, breach of confidence and database rights.

Financial services springboard injunction

Acting on behalf of a fintech company to obtain urgent injunctive relief, including springboard relief and an imaging order, in circumstances where a contractor was believed to have misused the client’s confidential information.

Unfair prejudice petitions

Acting in various unfair prejudice petitions, including in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries as well as in the financial services sector, which involved successfully resisting an application for an interim injunction.
