Profile

Liz is a managing associate in the employment team, based in the Guildford office. She advises on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law for a wide range of employer and employee clients.

Her experience includes discrimination and unfair dismissal claims; settlement (previously compromise) agreements; disciplinary, capability and grievance procedures; redundancy procedures and corporate restructuring; advising clients on employment issues in sale and purchase agreements; outsourcing; drafting of personnel policy documents including contracts and staff handbooks and working closely with HR professionals to provide legal input where required.

Liz is a regular author of articles and bulletins on current employment law issues. She also provides clients with in-house training. She joined the firm as a trainee and qualified in 2007.

Recent work highlights

  • Acting for a senior executive against a large international company following a dispute regarding his payment structure. A settlement worth one year's salary plus his full commission entitlement was achieved within a few weeks.
  • Providing day-to-day advisory services to an international supplier of software and services in respect of personnel documentation and all employment-related issues, including staff disciplinary and capability matters.
  • Pursuing claims for an employee against a renowned plc for unfair dismissal, breach of contract, sex discrimination and discrimination on the basis of part-time status. We achieved a substantial settlement without going to tribunal.
  • Defending a range of claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination on behalf of a media group client, including representing the company at the associated pre-hearing reviews.
