Laura is an associate in the Court of Protection team based in Basingstoke. She assists with the day-to-day management of predominantly professional property and affairs deputyships on behalf of a wide range of incapacitated individuals, ranging from infants through to elderly clients.

She also supports clients to manage their compensation awards and interim payments where litigation is ongoing, to ensure these funds are utilised in the client’s best interests to maximise their quality of life and to meet their ongoing needs and effectively budget for their future. To achieve this, Laura engages with the client, their families, and where appropriate their case managers and wider multidisciplinary teams. She has considerable experience in drafting deputyship applications for both professionals and the appointment of lay deputies, as well as applications for the approval of property purchases and sales.

Laura joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2024, having spent several years specialising in Court of Protection matters at established law firms in both London and Oxford. She obtained an LLB in law with European law at the University of Law, with an additional year spent studying at the Complutense University of Madrid, in Spain. She then completed her Legal Practice Course at the University of Law (Bloomsbury), London. Most recently, Laura attained the STEP Advanced Certificate in Advising Vulnerable Clients.
