Penningtons Manches Cooper advises MintNeuro on landmark $5 million investment round
Penningtons Manches Cooper has advised MintNeuro, the Imperial College London spinout developing specialised semiconductor technology for neural devices, on its $5 million investment round. The round was led by Odyssey Ventures, with participation from 33East, JSK Investments, Alumni Ventures and existing investors, including Empirical Ventures.
MintNeuro is building purpose-designed semiconductor technology for devices that interface with the brain and nervous system, addressing a critical infrastructure challenge in the rapidly evolving neurotechnology sector. Its modular chip platform is designed specifically for neural sensing, signal processing, and stimulation applications, enabling the development of smaller, lower-power and more capable neural devices.
The company has already achieved key commercial and technical milestones, including delivering working silicon and entering into partnerships with industry participants, such as Motif Neurotech and Amber Therapeutics. Earlier this year, MintNeuro announced a partnership and multi-year commercial chip supply agreement with Motif Neurotech supporting the development of its minimally invasive neurostimulator platform.
The funding will support MintNeuro’s commercial scale-up, accelerate product launches, expand customer adoption of its technology, and strengthen its presence across the UK, Europe and the United States.
The Penningtons Manches Cooper team was led by corporate partner Will Axtell and senior associate Anoushka Gangji, and supported by colleagues from the firm’s corporate team.
Dorian Haci, CEO and co-founder of MintNeuro, said: “Closing a round with a broad investor group involves a number of complexities. Will, Anoushka and the Penningtons Manches Cooper team provided clear, practical advice and maintained momentum through to completion. We are grateful for their support and look forward to working with them as MintNeuro enters its next stage of growth.”
Will Axtell, corporate partner at Penningtons Manches Cooper, added: “We really enjoyed supporting Dorian and the MintNeuro team on this important fundraising. MintNeuro is developing technology that enables smaller, lower-power and more capable neural devices, and this investment will support the next stage of its commercial growth. We look forward to continuing to work with the team as they build on this milestone.”
