Penningtons Manches Cooper recognised for sustainability and hybrid working in Early Career Awards

Penningtons Manches Cooper’s commitment to building a sustainable business and to facilitating working from home have been acknowledged by Legal Cheek and All About Law, leading online resources for those embarking on a career in law.

The firm has been shortlisted for the Legal Cheek Awards in two categories, ‘Best Law Firm for Eco-Friendliness’ and ‘Best Law Firm for Working From Home’, based on their annual survey of over 2,000 trainee and junior lawyers. Legal Cheek is the most read legal website in the UK and is well known for its student events, virtual law fairs and educational conferences.

This follows the firm also being highly commended for ‘Most Sustainable Recruitment Process’ in the All About Law Awards, based on their annual survey of over 500 student members with aspirations to become a solicitor.

These nominations are welcome recognition of several initiatives implemented by Penningtons Manches Cooper’s HR team aimed at enhancing the firm’s graduate recruitment process, which include running graduate events virtually and hosting assessment centres via an online platform, changes accelerated by Covid-19 restrictions. Whereas previously, over 100 in-person assessments were conducted at a time, shifting to remote assessments has eliminated unnecessary paper usage and the need for travel, minimising environmental impact and increasing inclusivity by making it possible for candidates to participate from home. The team works hard to ensure the firm’s commitment to sustainability is communicated to graduates, outlining how clients are advised on meeting environmental objectives, also reinforcing the firm’s ongoing commitment to hybrid working beyond the pandemic.
