Penningtons Manches Cooper has been announced as the winner of the employee wellbeing category at the Inspire Business Awards 2020. The human resources team represented the firm for the ‘Wellbeing at Work Award’, with a submission showcasing the wide array of wellbeing initiatives put in place at Penningtons Manches Cooper to support employees. The firm was also shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Environmental Responsibility’ category in recognition of the programme of work it has introduced to achieve best environmental practice.
The winners were announced at a virtual awards ceremony that was screened live on 4 December 2020. The Inspire Business Awards seek to celebrate the success of businesses across Hampshire and highlight the talent and innovation that the region has to offer.
The wellbeing programme was launched back in 2017 in order to raise awareness of wellbeing at work and to improve employees’ overall health both in the office environment and at home. The wellbeing strategy is centred around four core areas: mental, physical, financial and social wellbeing. Although providing support in these areas has always been important to the team, the realities of the coronavirus pandemic have highlighted just how important all aspects of wellness are to employees and to the continued success of the firm. The team has remained flexible throughout the pandemic and developed their existing strategy to meet the challenges of remote working.
The firm’s sustainability programme, which is spearheaded by diversity and corporate social responsibility manager Rob Hart, reached the final round of judging for the ‘Environmental Responsibility Award’. Penningtons Manches Cooper appreciates that the business community has a pivotal role to play in the drive towards greater sustainability and is pleased to be recognised by the Inspire Business Awards for its efforts in this area. As well as the firm’s pledge to reach net zero emissions by 2030, the sustainability strategy focuses on making adjustments to day-to-day operations and supporting clients as they navigate the risks and opportunities posed by climate change.
