New corporate partner to boost Penningtons Manches’ capital markets offering

Top 50 law firm Penningtons Manches has made a major new hire into its corporate team with the arrival of Seb Orton.

Seb, previously a partner at Eversheds Sutherland, will be based in the London office. He brings with him a very strong background in advising private and public companies, banks and other financial institutions on a range of corporate and commercial issues. His knowledge and experience will significantly enhance the firm’s offering and presence in the capital markets and City institutional space.

Over the past two years, Seb has been lead partner for the issuer on three IPOs: two of which were on the main market (including one in the FTSE250), the other was on AIM following a complex demutualisation. He has also advised a number of his investment bank clients in relation to IPOs and reverse takeovers, step-ups from AIM and various secondary fundraisings.

The new appointment follows a very successful year for Penningtons Manches' corporate practice. In 2018 it saw a 50% increase in the volume of transactions completed compared to the previous year. The capital markets team has acted on a number of placings and listings, including the IPO of cyber-security and data compliance products and services business, GRC International Group Plc, on AIM.
