Penningtons Manches has featured in a report by San Francisco based RocketSpace focusing on the top 11 London law firms for technology startups. A leading technology accelerator for high-growth startups and corporate innovators, RocketSpace recently launched a campus in London and engaged Penningtons Manches to advise on its expansion into the city. It has ranked Penningtons Manches in second place in its report, noting the firm’s ‘strong ethics and personalised level of customer service’ as well as its technical expertise and market insight.
The report considers the disruptive nature of technology startups, explaining that ‘the same evolutionary idea that could potentially land you millions could also be the source of your demise - without proper legal planning, that is’. Rocketspace’s advice for tech startups in order to avoid difficulties is to partner with an experienced technology-focused lawyer from the very beginning, who can not only alert you to any grey areas that could potentially attract lawsuits, government investigations and other problematic events, but can also advise on drafting founders’ agreements, prepare venture capital agreements and recommend appropriate intellectual property protection.
Commenting on the report, Penningtons Manches partner Franco Bosi, who heads the firm’s business services division, said: "We are really pleased to have been acknowledged in this way by RocketSpace. Having met the founders back in 2013 after a Tech London Advocates introduction, we have managed to broaden our relationship across various practice areas."
