Penningtons Manches shortlisted for LexisNexis Legal Awards 2018

Penningtons Manches’ wellbeing programme, known throughout the firm as ‘PennWell’, has been shortlisted in the Award for Wellbeing category at this year’s LexisNexis Legal Awards. 

Previously called the Halsbury Legal Awards and renamed to mark the 200^th anniversary of LexisNexis in 2018, the prestigious event celebrates excellence and innovation across the legal sector in 16 different categories. The Award for Wellbeing recognises organisations which have demonstrated a strong commitment to providing a working environment that supports the mental and physical health of its staff. 

PennWell was launched by Penningtons Manches’ HR team in January 2017 to raise awareness and improve wellbeing both in the office environment and at home by providing access to relevant tools, information and support networks. It is centred around three core areas – mental, physical and financial wellbeing. 

The cornerstone of the initiative has been an imaginative series of monthly activities highlighting different aspects of wellbeing. They have ranged from the installation of SiSU health check stations, water bottle desk drops, a summer safe campaign and a walking challenge, to sleep, nutrition and mindfulness seminars, money workshops, access to independent financial advisers and mental health awareness sessions. 

Feedback has been highly positive with 70% of respondents to the firm’s 2017 staff engagement survey confirming that they have made changes to improve their wellbeing as a result of the programme. Analysis of a series of lunch and learn sessions on mental health issues showed that 99% of attendees would recommend them to others.

The award winners will be announced at a black tie ceremony on Thursday 15 March 2018, which will be held at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane.
