The specialist charities team at Penningtons Manches was last night named Best Charity Law Firm at the highly respected Third Sector Awards.
The awards, which have been running for more than a decade, honour organisations working in the charity and not-for-profit sector that have demonstrated high levels of creativity, innovation and effectiveness.
Penningtons Manches’ charities team is made up of a group of experienced experts with a shared goal of combining common sense service with a deep understanding of clients’ charitable motivation and priorities.
The team is committed to developing and supporting thought leadership in the sector and hosted a first-of-its-kind conference, The Legacy Conversation, earlier this year. The conference was a direct outcome of the team’s 2017 successful report, Bridging the Gap, which explored the relationship between charities and probate practitioners.
The project brought some deeply-felt tensions to the surface, but it has also enabled both charities and probate practitioners to recognise that challenges are not insurmountable, and that much good can come out of a collaborative approach to tackling issues head on.
Marketing and development director Rolland Keane says: “Members of the charities team work incredibly hard for their clients, always looking to go the extra mile and really think about specific needs and circumstances. Moreover, they aim to try and take these experiences and translate them into projects and initiatives that benefit the sector as a whole. We’re delighted that this has been recognised. ”
