The product liability team at Penningtons Manches LLP has been instructed to investigate a potential claim against GlaxoSmithKline on behalf of a young girl who lives in Romania. After she had been given the INFANRIX® vaccine, which is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, the girl experienced seizures and sadly now suffers developmental delay.
INFANRIX® is indicated for active immunisation against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis as a five-dose series in infants and children between six weeks and seven years of age. Reported adverse events do include seizures occurring within three days.
Elise Bevan, the solicitor leading the claim, said: “We are still at the early stages of investigating this sad case, which involves a young child who has suffered a very severe injury. Investigations to date imply that there may be a link between the administration of the vaccine and the injury, but it is too early to say. We are aware of similar reports involving other children.”
