Penningtons Manches runs Information Days for Scope to help parents and carers of disabled children

The Penningtons Manches clinical negligence and personal injury team has run a number of Information Days for Scope, the charity that “exists to make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else”.

The Information Days are primarily aimed at the parents and carers of disabled children and are designed to be useful and interactive. We hold them in an informal setting and, to date, they have taken place in locations around the south of England including Brighton, the Isle of Wight and Oxford.

We often run these with assistance from barristers linked to the chambers whom we regularly instruct in our cases, including Cloisters and 7, Bedford Row.

The most recent Information Day in January 2015 took place in the centre of Brighton. The focus of the session was education, health and care plans and what parents can do to ensure that the educational and associated provision is appropriate for their children’s individual educational and health needs. The feedback received following the session was extremely positive.

Other topics covered in earlier sessions have included clinical negligence claims, trusts and the Court of Protection.

Further events are planned this year and for more information on these, please contact Alison Appelboam-Meadows.
