Finance Monthly magazine recognises Penningtons Manches lawyers in Deal Maker of the Year Awards

Three Penningtons Manches partners, Kerry Sharp, Matt Martin and Louis Manches, are among the winners of the Finance Monthly Deal Maker of the Year Awards 2014.

Now in its fourth year, the Finance Monthly Deal Maker Awards have gained a reputation as an industry standard for recognising excellence in corporate finance transactions and acknowledge and reward the individuals and firms involved - the bankers, venture capitalists, lawyers, accountants and professional advisors who initiate, structure and negotiate deals for growing organisations. 

Commercial, IP and IT partner, Kerry Sharp, advised long-standing client Adaptimmune Limited, a leading UK biotechnology company, on its US$ 350 million strategic collaboration and IP licensing agreement with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for the development and commercialisation of its lead clinical cancer programme. This standout deal was one of the largest in the UK life sciences sector in 2014. 

Corporate partner, Matt Martin, was recognised for his role in advising top 20 insurance broker, Brightside Group on its £127 million sale to funds advised by AnaCap Financial Partners LLP, one of the largest specialist private equity investors in the European financial services sector. He also acted for The Sugarman Group, a medical, education and social work recruiter, on its sale to multi-brand recruitment giant Cordant Group.

Real estate partner, Louis Manches, acted for Sellar Property Group  in its £500 million joint venture and forward funding project with Notting Hill Housing Trust to transform Canada Water in London’s Docklands.

Finance Monthly’s research team and dedicated judging panel assessed nomination entries and conducted extensive research involving clients and peers. The end result is an awards publication that contains some of the most successful and trusted firms and individuals from across the globe.
