Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession, the national legal directory which is seen by many as an industry 'bible', has recognised the expertise and high levels of client service demonstrated by lawyers across Penningtons Manches in its 2015 edition.
A recurrent theme in the testimonials on the firm in the newly published directory is the commercial and responsive approach shown when representing both businesses and private individuals. References to Penningtons Manches' 'sound, commercial and pragmatic advice', 'extremely responsive' practitioners and 'wealth of knowledge and experience' can be found repeatedly in the analyses of the legal teams in all its office locations.
In total 50 of the firm's practice areas have been ranked in the publication while 66 of its lawyers have been listed as 'leaders in their field'. Particularly strong performances were shown by the clinical negligence, corporate, environment, family, information technology, intellectual property, pensions, personal injury, private client, real estate litigation and social housing teams, which all received a band 1 ranking.
On an individual level, Alison Appelboam-Meadows (clinical negligence), Philippa Luscombe (clinical negligence and personal injury), Julie Bond (commercial dispute resolution), David Tighe (corporate), Hilary Aldred (employment), Richard Smith (environment), Ruth James (family), Jane Mitchell (family), Sam De Silva (information technology), Chris Shelley (intellectual property), Joanne Vengadesan (intellectual property), Maria Riccio (pensions), Michael Cash (private client), Geoff Hudson (professional regulation), Katrina Wingfield (professional regulation), Catriona Smith (real estate) and John Morrison (real estate litigation) were also listed in band 1. Senior associate Catherine Bradshaw has been recommended as a Star Associate in the social housing field.
Rankings in the Chambers guide reflect feedback passed to the directory by a broad cross-section of both clients and lawyers. A team of 150 full-time researchers based in Chambers’ London office conduct in-depth face-to-face and telephone interviews which result in wide-ranging and verifiable information on law firms in 50 cities and counties in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Commenting on the plaudits received by such a significant number of Penningtons Manches lawyers, chief executive David Raine said: “This year’s listings continue the highly positive endorsements which solicitors in many areas of our combined firm have received from clients and reinforce the strong commendations published in the latest issue of The Legal 500 earlier this Autumn. We are delighted to have been acknowledged in this way by these two leading authorities in our field.”
