Penningtons Manches has recently reported on the number of cases we are now dealing with in respect of alleged negligent care received from Miss Jayne Cockburn at Frimley Park Hospital.
Following Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust’s internal review which took place earlier this year, the hospital wrote to 101 patients who were treated by Miss Cockburn offering them the opportunity to see another gynaecologist and have their care reviewed. It is reported that nearly half of the patients who were contacted were found to have later suffered “potentially significant issues” and a number of these women have now instructed us to investigate a potential clinical negligence claim on their behalf.
It has recently come to light that Miss Cockburn was only referred by the General Medical Council to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in November 2014 and, following this, she was permitted to continue practicing with conditions on her registration.
However, a recent spokesman for the Trust has now announced that Miss Cockburn has taken the decision to formally resign from the Trust and will officially leave on 12 December 2014.
