Penningtons Manches demonstrates combined strength and depth in Chambers UK

Posted: 06/11/2013

Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession, one of the definitive guides to UK law firms and lawyers, reveals a convincing picture of the combined strength and breadth of Penningtons Manches LLP following the recent joining of forces between Penningtons Solicitors and Manches LLP.

In the newly published 2014 edition, 41 of the firm’s practice areas across its eight offices are recognised for their expertise together with 68 lawyers who are nominated as leading individuals in their specialist areas. Fourteen of the firm’s teams – clinical negligence, corporate, environment, family, IT, intellectual property, litigation, real estate litigation, pensions, personal injury, private client, social housing and tax – have achieved a band 1 listing. An additional 11 teams – including banking and finance, employment and professional discipline – are ranked band 2.

Of the 68 lawyers recognised for their individual excellence, there are 14 employment, eight family, six clinical negligence, six private client, five social housing, and five corporate lawyers. Others recognised for their excellence include Pat Saini (immigration), Julie Bond (Court of Protection), David Niven (transport), Mark Lee (travel), Sarah Cardew (tax), Richard Smith (environment), Sam De Silva (IT), and Chris Shelley (intellectual property).

Rankings are based purely on merit and reflect feedback passed to the directory by a broad cross-section of both clients and lawyers within competitor practices. As part of their analysis in the last 12 months, researchers from Chambers conducted more than 40,000 interviews.

Penningtons Manches’ chief executive David Raine said: “This year’s Chambers listings provide a strong platform on which to build the success of our new firm as they reveal the strength and breadth of both client endorsement for and peer recognition of our capability across the majority of our practice and sector groups.”
