Penningtons backs LawWorks pro bono programme

Penningtons is pleased to announce that it has become a member of LawWorks, a national charity which aims to provide free legal help to individuals and community groups who cannot afford to pay for it and who are unable to access legal aid.

Over the last year, LawWorks, which was previously known as the Solicitors' Pro Bono Group, helped to provide free legal advice and assistance to over 40,000 people in need and over 350 voluntary sector organisations.

Penningtons' membership of LawWorks demonstrates the firm's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and determination to be an active member of the communities in which it works. Commenting on the LawWorks initiative, partner Stephen Law, who leads Penningtons' CSR programme, said: "We are delighted to be able to make a contribution to this well respected charity which is gaining increasing recognition across the UK. Our associaton with LawWorks will enable us to focus our pro bono activities on worthwhile causes and organisations which will particularly benefit from our support."
