Penningtons lawyers achieve high rankings in Chambers 2012 directory

Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession has recommended 29 lawyers from Penningtons Solicitors LLP as 'leaders in their field' in its newly published 2012 guide. The directory, which is produced annually and is considered as the Who's Who of the legal sector, was launched at a prestigious reception attended by over 500 guests at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London at the end of October.

Penningtons has received plaudits across a broad range of practice areas, supporting both businesses and private individuals, in its London, Hampshire and Surrey offices. There were strong performances in this year's guide by the firm's corporate, employment, partnership, personal injury, private client, professional discipline, commercial property, property litigation, environment, social housing, tax and travel specialists. In addition, the new directory lists Penningtons in tier 1 for clinical negligence and business immigration and praises the expertise in birth injury, neurosurgery and cosmetic surgery cases shown by a 'formidable team' as well as the firm's 'outstanding reputation for immigration work'.

Among the lawyers who received particular praise from the directory were Alison Appelboam Meadows, Grainne Barton, Philip Barth, Stephen Ralph and Geoffrey Hudson, who were all listed in tier 1 for their respective practice areas, as well as Katrina Wingfield, head of Penningtons' professional regulation group, who was ranked as a 'star individual'.

Penningtons' chief executive David Raine is delighted at the recognition received by such a high number of lawyers across the firm. Commenting on the rankings, he said: "Chambers provides an independent assessment of the performance of law firms throughout the UK which is based on extensive research conducted among clients and industry peers. This year's guide demonstrates how the hard work carried out by everyone within the firm is being recognised at both a local and national level."
