Penningtons Solicitors LLP was delighted to be one of the sponsors of the Shooting Star CHASE carol concert which took place in the packed to capacity Holy Trinity Church in Guildford on 14 December. The event, which was organised in aid of local families with a child or teenager who has a life-limiting condition, attracted a congregation of over 500 people and combined impressive musical recitals and celebrity readings with the opportunity to sing popular carols.
The evening's programme was introduced by Michael More-Molyneux, owner of Loseley Park, who is Vice President of Shooting Star CHASE, and included performances from Surrey Harp Choir, The Vivace Chorus and Guildford Harmony. There were Christmas readings by actress Penelope Keith, children's author Dame Jacqueline Wilson and publicist Max Clifford, who have all been long term supporters of the charity. Anna Poulson also gave an emotive speech in which she described how Shooting Star CHASE has supported her family.
The evening culminated in a drinks reception during which canapes prepared by the Tante Marie Cookery School were served and the winners of a Christmas raffle were announced. The prizes were provided by local businesses, including Penningtons.
In addition to supporting this memorable event, Penningtons has donated an assortment of Christmas gifts to Christopher's hospice in Guildford. Penningtons partner Stephen Law, who presented the gifts to Shooting Star CHASE fundraising manager Alex Robinson (please click here to see photo), said: "It was a privilege to enjoy the magical atmosphere during the concert and also to be able to assist the enormously valuable and wide ranging work of the children's hospice service."
Shooting Star CHASE currently helps over 500 families living in West London, Surrey and West Sussex. These families receive practical, nursing and emotional support at Shooting Star CHASE's hospices in Guildford and Hampton as well as in their own homes and communities.
