Latest news & insights:

We have acted in a number of cases arising from the missed or delayed diagnosis of eye disease and the failure to treat these conditions properly.

If patients are not provided with appropriate care, there can be a risk of damage to sight and, in the worst cases, blindness.

In recent years there have been a number of advances in the treatment of different diseases affecting the eye, including injections for macular degeneration and sophisticated laser eye surgery techniques. Any surgery carries with it certain risks that should be explained to patients before they agree to proceed but in some cases damage may give rise to a legitimate claim.

Penningtons Manches Cooper's experienced team can advise in relation to a wide range of claims:

  • failure to identify/remove foreign body
  • delay in diagnosis of macular degeneration
  • failure to diagnose tumours affecting optic nerve
  • inappropriate treatment
  • failure to manage risk of glaucoma in diabetics
