Tata-Boeing joint venture establishes aerospace facility in Hyderabad

Our corporate and commercial teams advised Tata on its joint venture with Boeing, establishing Tata Boeing Aerospace to co-produce Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopter fuselages and other aerostructures, as well as to pursue integrated systems in aerospace.

Completion of the joint venture took place in Dubai in November 2015. Tata Boeing Aerospace began construction of its new manufacturing centre of excellence in Hyderabad in June 2016, and once complete the facility is expected to eventually become the sole producer of AH-64 fuselages globally. It will also compete for additional manufacturing work packages across Boeing platforms, both commercial and defence.

The joint venture continues the established partnerships between Boeing and Tata group companies in India to manufacture aerostructures for Boeing’s commercial and military aircraft.

David Kendall, Philip Walton and Joanne Vengadesan worked with Tata’s in-house legal team and their Indian lawyers to advise on the English legal aspects of the agreement. Due to the size and nature of the project, the team was working within a strict timetable but was able to provide excellent service within the timescale expected by the client.
