Firefighters on TV

The Fire Fighters Charity provides services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.

We advised the charity on its collaboration with Nice Ideas Productions Limited regarding the development of television formats aimed at promoting public awareness of the charity's work and encouraging donations.

It is intended that Nice Ideas will pitch the formats to production companies, which would produce television programmes based on the formats and seek a commission from a broadcaster. We advised the charity on matters relating to intellectual property rights ownership, its potential revenue streams and payment models, as well as formulating the agreement with Nice Ideas. This case study illustrates how a licensor can maintain control and obtain value from its intellectual property rights, via a well structured licensing model.
