Funding an accident abroad claim
We can help you to understand the different options for funding the legal costs for a personal injury claim resulting from an accident abroad.
You may benefit from legal expenses insurance through a travel insurance policy, a household contents policy or a policy with your bank. We act as the panel solicitors for various UK travel insurers and anticipate that your insurers will therefore agree to us acting on your behalf. We can of course discuss this with you.
Alternatively, if it is possible to pursue your claim in England, we may be able to act on your behalf by way of a conditional fee agreement (CFA), often referred to as a ‘no win, no fee’ agreement. These are assessed on a case by case basis according to the merits of each individual claim and we would be happy to discuss with you how they work in practice.
Under a CFA you take no risk while pursuing the claim – all costs are covered while the case is ongoing and most, if not all, of the costs are recovered in addition to your damages at the end of the case. We have access to ‘after the event’ (ATE) insurance which protects you against any liability for the other side’s costs in the event we are not successful with your claim.
