Stephanie Code

Partner

Stephanie is a well-known and respected medical negligence solicitor having specialised in this area for over 30 years. She has taken a leading role in promoting high standards of legal advice in her field, as demonstrated by her appointment as secretary and then coordinator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers’ Clinical Negligence Special Interest Group and as an executive member of the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers.

She has been actively involved in a number of important working groups promoting cooperation and efficiency and is a long-standing member of the specialist panel of medical negligence lawyers run by AvMA, a charity supporting those who have experienced injury as a result of errors in medical treatment. Stephanie is recognised for her expertise in substantial birth injury and cerebral palsy claims. However, she has extensive experience in a wide range of other cases for children and adults. Examples include a case for an adult with a brain injury due to hospital errors in administering medication, and a complex spinal cord injury case where injury was caused during surgery and the outcome was complicated because of a rare genetic condition.

The most satisfying part of my job is to see how a damages award can change someone’s life. A highlight is when clients get in touch after a settlement because they have good news – recently I heard that a teenager, who sustained a brain injury as a baby, passed her A levels with As and A*!

Stephanie Code, Partner

Stephanie works with a committed team of lawyers who assist on claims of maximum severity and run their own cases with her input. In recent years, claims have been made in relation to errors in general surgery, anaesthetics errors, and injuries caused as a result of delays in diagnosis and treatment. Claims for psychiatric injury including PTSD feature in many cases. Her focus is to support families through traumatic events and seek damages to restore their quality of life as much as is possible. She is noted for her sympathetic and practical approach.
