Employment for business
Sophie is an associate in the employment team based in the Reading office. She acts for individuals and corporate clients, advising on a broad range of employment law matters.
She has experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters and has advised on Employment Tribunal claims relating to unfair dismissal, discrimination, and whistleblowing. Sophie also advises UK-based and multinational employers on a host of day-to-day matters, including drafting and updating employment contracts and policies; advising on redundancy processes, performance management, TUPE, the enforceability of restrictive covenants, whistleblowing, discrimination issues, and subject access requests; and providing practical solutions to mitigate against the risk of claims arising from such issues.
I am passionate about the ever-changing field of employment law and pride myself on delivering practical results to clients. I understand the needs of both employers and employees and I appreciate clients are not looking for us to simply quote the law, but to use our knowledge and experience to provide solutions.
As a member of the firm’s North America group, Sophie works closely with US and international companies on employment law and international expansion issues. She also provides training to clients on a variety of issues such as employment law updates, or refresher training on subjects such as sexual harassment and bullying. After studying law and criminology at university, Sophie joined the firm as a trainee in 2018 and qualified as a solicitor in 2020. She is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She is also the chair of the firm’s LGBTQIA+ committee and a member of the firm’s socioeconomic group.
