Rebecca Andrews-Walker

Rebecca is head of restructuring and insolvency and a specialist insolvency partner in the commercial dispute resolution team. Experienced in the full spectrum of personal and corporate insolvency matters, both contentious and advisory, she is one of the few lawyers to be dual-qualified as an insolvency practitioner, holding both corporate and personal Joint Insolvency Examination Board accreditations.
Drawing on her unusually holistic insight into insolvency matters, Rebecca frequently represents some of the firm’s most significant clients across both its UK and international offices on complex, high-value and high-profile insolvencies. She has a particular focus on financial distress management, business viability and turnarounds for single entity and larger group businesses, and she holds expertise in board support and rescue within the life sciences, regulated energy and education/charity sectors. Rebecca continues to be involved with the long-running liquidation of Thomas Cook, in addition to acting as a specialist adviser to the League Managers Association.
I create solutions to complex, time-sensitive ‘bet the firm’ situations, where finance is strained and the bailiffs may well be days away. I strive not to just opine or advise, but to innovate. I’m proud to lead a team dedicated to bringing daylight to dark situations, taking the stress out of challenging circumstances.
She has advised on a number of prominent CVAs in the leisure, hospitality and retail industries, and on challenges to them concerning unfair prejudice and material irregularity grounds. A member of the British Property Federation’s Insolvency Committee, Rebecca regularly advises on both content and strategy for company voluntary arrangements and restructuring plans, with emphasis on landlord and tenant relationships and property-heavy sectors such as retail and hospitality.
A regular speaker and trainer for MBL, she strongly advocates for knowledge sharing within the industry, and is recognised for her technical yet pragmatic advice to businesses, individuals and insolvency practitioners. Clients particularly value her ‘whole market’ approach which she tailors to their objectives. They describe her as ‘very approachable’, ‘an expert in her field’ and as ‘bringing a unique set of skills to the table’.
