Mark is a partner in the housing team. He specialises in acting for registered providers on their acquisitions by way of outright purchase, conditional agreements, option agreements, golden brick agreements and associated development agreements.

Additionally, Mark advises registered providers on their commercial property portfolios include the grant of leases, lease renewals, termination of leases and estate management issues such as assignments, underlettings, and alterations. He has advised registered providers on their assured tenancies and assured shorthold tenancies, and drafted provisions dealing with London Living Rent tenancies and Rights to Acquire and Rent to Buy.

I am thrilled to advise registered providers on their development and site acquisition matters. I am committed to simplifying the process of acquiring sites and completing infrastructure agreements and easements as well as planning and highways agreements.

Mark also acts for private clients and companies on a range of transactions, including recently the purchase of sites subsequently developed into housing and offices, schemes, office investment portfolios, and a preparatory school as a going concern from a college, as well as the refinancing of a chain of gyms. Mark has previously advised on the acquisition and development into a boutique hotel of a former grammar school, and has acted for government bodies on the property aspects of the discharge of their statutory functions.

He is a member of The Law Society’s Conveyancing and Land Law Committee, the RICS Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Forum, and Birmingham Law Society’s Legal Tech Committee. Mark was seconded to the Law Society’s Housing Law Committee for three years.

Acting for a G15 registered provider on the acquistion at golden brick in 10 phases of 125 affordable housing units.

Shorthold tenancy agreements

Advising a registered provider on the review of its assured shorthold tenancy agreements, including drafting the provisions necessary for a London Living Rent.

Purchase of 58 homes from RP

Advising a community-led housing co-operative on the development and purchase of 58 homes from a registered provider.

Triple development site acquisition

Acting for a registered provider on the acquisition of three development sites from a London based local authority, conditional upon planning and including overage arrangements and buy back provisions for the council.
