Managing associate

Liz is a managing associate in the employment team based in the Guildford office. She advises on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters for both employer and employee clients.

Her experience includes complex discrimination and unfair dismissal claims; settlement agreements; disciplinary, capability and grievance procedures; redundancy procedures and corporate restructuring; advising clients on employment issues in sale and purchase agreements; drafting of and advising on personnel and policy documents; and TUPE transfers.

I thrive on resolving complicated employment challenges and situations practically and efficiently while showing a strong commitment to clients. In any situation, I focus on providing straightforward and pragmatic advice.

Described by her clients as ‘pragmatic and solution oriented’, Liz routinely works with organisations and HR teams to find commercial and sensible answers to difficult employment situations. She is also experienced in employment tribunal work and settling disputes – and is described as ‘an astute and tenacious negotiator’.

 Liz is recognised by Chambers UK and has been identified as a leading associate by the Legal 500. She is a regular author of articles and bulletins on current employment law issues and also provides clients with in-house training. She joined the firm as a trainee and qualified in 2007.

Recent work highlights

Employment Tribunal success

Assisting a client in defending claims of unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal and race discrimination, with the Employment Tribunal dismissing the matter prior to the final hearing.

International client employment advice

Advising an international client in relation to all of their day-to-day employment law requirements, including dealing with flexible working requests, negotiating exit terms with senior management, and assisting with a significant restructuring exercise.

Substantial settlement

Acting for an executive employee whose employment had been terminated in circumstances where they were unable to bring an ordinary claim of unfair dismissal and negotiating a substantial settlement without the need to issue tribunal proceedings.
