Managing associate

Hester is a managing associate in the London employment team. She qualified in 2001 and joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2013.

She advises on a broad range of employment issues both contentious and non-contentious, often with an international dimension. Her clients range from senior executives to multi-national companies with particular expertise in the retail and marketing sectors. She also gives guidance on the financial regulatory aspects of HR.

She provides practical advice on all matters including employment status, unfair dismissal, discrimination, business transfers, restructuring and redundancies, contracts of employment, restrictive covenants, consultancy agreements, disciplinary and grievance matters as well as corporate transactions.

Hester also devises and runs training events for clients on the employment law issues that arise when managing their staff from recruitment to termination. She regularly speaks at external seminars including those organised by Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).

Acting for a major healthcare recruitment company in an investigation into the involvement of its board members and key accounts personnel in financial accounting irregularities.

UK subsidiary collective redundancy

Advising an international technology company on collective redundancy consultation issues arising out the sale/restructuring of its UK subsidiary.

Senior management team exit

Acting for members of the senior management team of a telecommunications company on their exit terms, including restrictive covenant issues.

General employment advice

Drafting and advising on service agreements, contracts of employment, consultancy agreements and employment policies.

Director termination

Advising a retail company on the termination of one of its directors.
