Georgina Mercer

Knowledge lawyer

Georgina is a knowledge lawyer in the IP, IT and commercial team. She has a broad range of experience in commercial law, IP, IT, data protection, and the technology and life sciences sectors, and supports and promotes the work of the team through knowledge development.

The focus of Georgina’s role is on supporting the IP, IT and commercial team, and both the life sciences and digital business sector teams, by ensuring that they are on top of the latest legal developments and changes in legal practice. She develops and delivers knowhow and training for clients and her team, as well as cross-collaborating with other teams across the firm. She also works with the best practice team to share best practice and knowledge and improve firm processes and technology solutions, to enable teams to work more efficiently and to deliver a best-in-class service for clients.

My role focuses on capturing, generating and sharing knowledge both to our teams in knowhow sessions and to our clients in legal training, industry events, insights and content generation. I am also part of our best practice team, helping to deliver best practice firmwide.

Georgina’s particular interest in life sciences and innovation stems from her experience working in-house in these sectors and coming from a biomedical science background. As well as editing legal resources, she is involved in developing insights and horizon scanning for the latest trends and analysis, as well as in coaching and mentoring junior lawyers.
