Ellen Niven

Associate

Ellen is an associate in the marine, trade and aviation team in London. She assists with a broad range of shipping matters including charterparty disputes, bill of lading claims, and admiralty claims.

Her experience also extends to working on aviation and aerospace insurance matters, with a focus on insurance and reinsurance litigation. She represents shipowners, charterers and insurers, as both claimants and defendants. Ellen has experience in multiple forums, including London arbitration and the High Court. She is currently involved in the multi-billion-dollar aviation insurance litigation arising out of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

My focus is on providing comprehensive, commercially sound advice to clients in the shipping, aviation, and aerospace sectors. I work with clients whose commercial pressures and international operations shape the way I advise. I stay aligned with shifting legal and factual developments to ensure our strategy remains responsive, relevant, and grounded in commercial realities.
