Elisabeth Mason

Senior associate

Elisabeth is a senior associate in the commercial dispute resolution team. She specialises in reputation management and advises clients on the merits of potential claims involving all kinds of reputational issues, leveraging her extensive experience of High Court litigation to provide pragmatic advice.

She has a wealth of experience in defamation, privacy and data protection disputes, and acts for both claimants and defendants. Much of her work involves complex data protection issues, and she is highly experienced at navigating the UK’s data protection regime to provide practical solutions for her clients. Elisabeth has a particular interest in education and has acted for a variety of educational institutions.

For most of my clients, litigation is a worst-case scenario. I am sought after for my pragmatic approach; my priority is to help my clients identify potential risks early and resolve disputes before they escalate. I never forget that litigation is personal, particularly where the reputation of an organisation or an individual is at stake.

Elisabeth Mason, Senior associate

Highly regarded for her attention to detail, judgment and empathy, Elisabeth was first recommended in the Legal 500 in 2019, and is listed as an ‘Associate to watch’ by Chambers UK. She trained at the firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2016. As a junior associate in the commercial dispute resolution team, she gained experience in a broad range of commercial litigation, taking matters from pre-action through to trial. She then spent several years at a niche reputation management practice where she worked exclusively on media and communications claims, before returning to Penningtons Manches Cooper in January 2023.
