Clare Arthurs

Clare heads the dispute resolution division, with overall responsibility for its strategic direction. She is a member of the firm’s strategy board and a partner in the firm’s best practice group.

A former commercial litigator, Clare became a knowledge lawyer for the commercial disputes team in 2007, supporting a broad range of specialisms, including international litigation and arbitration, group actions, professional negligence, reputation management, and regulatory compliance. As part of this role, she became an established author in the legal press, writing for journals such as New Law Journal, Solicitors JournalCommercial Litigation Journal, the International Bar Association Newsletter and Insolvency Intelligence.

An experienced litigator, knowledge professional and team leader, I have insight and understanding into the challenges faced by clients, lawyers and their businesses. Naturally empathetic, I enjoy working with others to identify solutions to problems, and to empower individuals and teams to be the best they can be.

In recent years, Clare has played a pivotal role in the introduction of new technology across the business, with a particular focus on litigation technology. She has been key to several business improvement projects, such as the introduction of an in-house costs team, and the growth and development of the firm’s knowledge team. Clare still enjoys leading and working with the knowledge teams for the commercial dispute resolution and marine trade and aviation teams.

In 2021, Clare was made a partner and changed focus to the leadership and management of the commercial disputes resolution team. Since April 2024, Clare has been head of divisional strategy for the dispute resolution division and is working closely with all the contentious teams across the firm as they deliver seamless, high-quality advice and outcomes to clients involved in disputes.

Client advisory panel

Becoming a founding member of the EMEA client advisory panel for a leading global e-discovery and information governance company.

Disputes conference

Devising and delivering a successful conference for disputes partners across the firm, which included feedback from clients and CEOs of chambers and funders.

Creation of agreements

Working with the knowledge team and key stakeholders to create a suite of funding and risk sharing agreements and founding a firm-wide risk committee.

Litigation technology

Identifying and deploying best of breed tech tools for the litigation teams, including video conferencing, electronic bundling, group actions software, budgeting and e-disclosure platforms.
