Alison is a long-standing partner in the medical negligence team and has over 30 years’ experience in running medical negligence cases. She is recognised as a leading partner by the Legal 500 and is top ranked by the Chambers’ Guide to the UK Legal Profession.

Noted for her professionalism, compassion and empathy, she achieves excellent results for her clients. While Alison is based in the Basingstoke office, she also works out of the London office and the firm’s other regional offices, and sees clients nationwide. She has been involved in a wide range of cases on behalf of claimants, and has significant experience conducting complex medical negligence cases involving obstetric and paediatric negligence resulting in catastrophic injury. Alison is particularly noted for her specialist expertise in birth injury and cerebral palsy claims, and heads up the firm’s cerebral palsy team. She also acts on behalf of individuals who have suffered traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries as a result of sub-standard medical treatment.

I understand that my clients and their families have been through a lot of trauma before they seek legal advice, and I therefore ensure that they are supported with compassion and empathy, whilst striving to achieve the best possible outcomes for them.

Alison Appelboam Meadows, Partner

Alison has an excellent understanding of the medical issues involved in cases and works hard for her clients to ensure that they recover the compensation to which they are entitled. She takes a pragmatic approach to claims and ensures that clients are advised in a clear and comprehensible way. Many clients have very significant disabilities and have life-long needs. Multi-million-pound awards are often recovered for such clients and, when interim payments are recovered during the course of such claims, and after the cases have concluded, Alison will ensure that the clients and their families are supported appropriately by case managers, Court of Protection deputies and therapists, as required.

A member of Action against Medical Accidents’ specialist medical negligence panel, Alison also has senior litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. She regularly writes articles for the firm’s website and presents at seminars.
