Charity officers and private client lawyers alike face challenges in their respective roles concerning legacies, but some surprisingly emotive issues arising during the estate administration process were uncovered in recent research. Penningtons Manches’ 'Bridging the Gap' report concluded that more can and should be done to improve the communication and understanding of each other’s needs.
That is why we are launching The Legacy Conversation at a full-day conference to engage with a wide range of interested parties including practitioners, fundraisers, leaders, regulatory bodies and member associations from both the charity sector and the legal sector.
The Legacy Conversation will facilitate dialogue and the exchange of views through a programme of expert speakers, workshops and panel discussions, and provide extensive opportunities for networking with and exhibiting to key contacts in the sector.

While there is plenty of good practice when dealing with charitable legacies, there are also significant areas in which concerns have been raised by both legacy officers and probate practitioners.
