Tim Wright, Senior Associate at Penningtons Manches


Tim is a senior associate in the clinical negligence and personal injury team in the Basingstoke office with more than 30 years' experience of claimant and defendant work in these fields.  He joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 1999.

He has a special interest in complex medical issues and particular expertise in advising on cases involving consent to treatment and access to treatment issues, patient confidentiality, inquests, right to life issues and ethical matters. He also deals with complex product liability and personal injury claims.

Tim regularly authors articles on the Health and the Human Rights Act 1998 and has also written extensively on the NHS complaints procedure.  He is a member of the Law Society's Clinical Negligence Panel and the Medico-Legal Society.

Recent work highlights

  • Acting in a substantial claim arising out of the suicide of a man who had developed a severe depressive condition but whose treatment at home as a voluntary patient was managed negligently.
  • Representing a man who had developed meningitis a few days after birth where the treatment given was entirely inadequate to prevent brain damage. The case had been rejected by many other solicitors.
  • Successfully acting in a number of cases where the patient had suffered permanent nerve injury as a result of negligent management of surgical instruments.
