Sophie is an associate in the firm’s London based construction and infrastructure team. Her experience covers a range of construction projects for a mix of commercial clients, including developers, purchasers, contractors and various social housing bodies. She has recently acted on a multi-million pound joint venture to build both shared and affordable ownership and private housing at a ground-breaking development in the UK.

She regularly advises clients on drafting and negotiating bespoke and industry standard contracts at all stages of construction, including JCT and NEC building contracts, development agreements, consultant appointments and collateral warranties, and on disputes avoidance and litigation.

Sophie joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2017. She trained at a leading City law firm, qualifying in 2015, and has completed a secondment at Serco Global Services.

Recent work highlights

  • Drafting the full suite of construction documents and reviewing the real estate documents for a number of industrial facilities at various sites. This involved managing concurrent projects with a combined value of over £400 million.
  • Advising on bespoke call-off consultant frameworks and orders for a client with multiple retail projects across the UK.
  • Drafting construction documents for a large student accommodation project and liaising with various parties in a complex land-ownership structure.
  • Reviewing and negotiating development agreements in order to manage clients’ risk exposure on the projects appropriately.
