Sharon is an associate in the housing corporate and governance team in Birmingham. She supports clients across the housing and not-for-profit sector on their corporate, governance and company secretarial needs. In addition to advising on new group structures, strategic governance and reviews, co-operative and community benefit society law, general company law and charity law matters, and drafting governance documentation, she provides guidance on the incorporation and registration of new registered providers of social housing.
She has a range of experience working with clients seeking to merge and collaborate, form group structures and acquire and grow business streams. This has involved mergers and acquisitions, group restructures and group collapses, due diligence exercises, corporate structure conversions, amalgamations and transfers of engagements projects. She also regularly provides training and support to boards and executive teams of housing associations across a variety of topics, covering legal and regulatory compliance and updates, directors' duties and responsibilities including statutory health and safety duties, good governance, collaborative working and coterminous board training.
Sharon is a member of the Birmingham Law Society’s equality and diversity committee and part of the Chartered Institute of Housing’s West Midlands regional board. She qualified as a solicitor in 2017 and joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2020 from another leading law firm in the UK housing sector.
