Geri joined the Court of Protection team in January 2018, having previously been part of a large local authority Court of Protection service. She has acted on Court of Protection matters for both professional deputies and the local authority for four years. Prior to this, she worked in the social care sector as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities and then as a service manager at a disability charity.

As part of her role as a senior team leader, Geri supports deputies with the ongoing management of clients’ day to day financial requirements as well as assisting senior colleagues with ongoing litigation work and complex panel deputyships. She has experience in welfare benefits and care funding which she uses to support the team in this area.

Geri read Economics, Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick. She has recently completed the CILEx Professional Diploma in Law and Practice, and will now be working towards the next stage of the qualification to become a Chartered Legal Executive.

Recent work highlights

  • Successfully completing a financial assessment for a client with the local authority resulting in lower weekly contributions to account for their disability related expenditure.
  • Preparing a detailed report to the Court of Protection reviewing the conduct of a previous deputy.
  • Overseeing a multi-disciplinary meeting for a client to ensure appropriate financial management, considering issues of capacity and wider health and welfare implications.
