Tim was the senior partner at Thomas Cooper LLP prior to the firm’s merger with Penningtons Manches and is based in the London office. He specialises in commercial shipping and international trade disputes and regularly advises on issues arising under sale contracts, bills of lading and charterparties.
He has particular experience in disputes on the carriage of containers and the contamination of liquid bulk cargoes. Tim also advises on international trade disputes, claims involving oil, petrochemicals and other soft commodities, and disputes relating to North Sea and offshore operations. He is also the compliance officer for the Finance and Administration (COFA).
Tim also regularly advises on salvage, general average and issues arising out of transshipment following casualties together with a wide range of international trade issues arising out of FOB, CIF and delivered basis contracts involving oil and other commodities. A regular speaker at international shipping and international trade seminars, Tim is ranked in the Legal 500’s elite "Leading lawyers" list, and has been cited as “very experienced in charterparty issues".
