Neave is an associate in the firm’s construction and infrastructure team. Based in London, she advises on and negotiates standard form and bespoke contracts and also provides guidance on a wide range of issues including construction disputes and insurance coverage.

Her practice covers a variety of construction projects for commercial clients, including developers, investors, purchasers, contractors and social housing bodies. She regularly advises on drafting and negotiating bespoke and industry standard contracts at all stages of construction, including JCT and NEC building contracts, development agreements, consultant appointments and collateral warranties. She assists clients from procurement to the completion of projects.

Neave has experience of dealing with a range of dispute resolution processes in the construction sector including adjudication, arbitration and civil litigation, as well as mediation. Acting for and against large multi-disciplinary consultancies, engineers, architects, project managers, developers and employers, and tier 1 and 2 contractors, she has developed a strong commercial awareness and a comprehensive understanding of industry issues. Her role also encompasses succinct insurance policy coverage advice, and in respect of construction contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and the assignment and novation of contracts. A regular contributor to the firm’s sustainability bulletin, Neave also takes a special interest in renewable energy.

Recent work highlights

  • Advising a number of employers on disputes over defects and fire stopping, and the associated costs of the remedial works in various locations across London.
  • Reviewing and negotiating development agreements and suites of construction documents in order to manage clients’ risk exposure on developments of circa £500 million.
  • Acting on a number of payment adjudications for contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Drafting and negotiating construction documents for the development of a number of commercial/retail units.
  • Advising on and drafting a bespoke development agreement for new care homes.
