Mercedes is an associate in the clinical negligence and personal injury team, based in the firm’s Guildford office.

Her experience includes advising on both subtle and traumatic brain injuries and clinical negligence-related personal injuries and she has represented a number of clients who have sustained life-changing injuries. She also acts on cases involving public liability, employers liability and industrial diseases and has an interest in cosmetic surgery and gynaecology cases.

Mercedes joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2021 having recently qualified as a solicitor. She is passionate about human rights and has worked closely with affiliated charities including Road Peace, The Silver Lining and The London Air Ambulance.

Recent work highlights

  • Overturning a High Court judgment at the Court of Appeal in the case of Bellman v Northampton Recruitment Ltd and setting a precedent for future cases involving vicarious liability.
  • Acting for a cyclist who sustained a traumatic brain injury and paraplegia following a road traffic accident and achieving a six figure settlement despite the contested liability throughout the case.
  • Assisting in the takeover of a case involving three sisters who were in a road traffic accident and helping the family by establishing a full care/therapy team and relocating them to suitable accommodation before finally achieving a seven figure settlement.
