James is an associate in the commercial dispute resolution team in the London office. His practice focuses on advising companies and individuals on commercial and corporate disputes, disputes concerning fraud, investigations and enforcement actions, financial services disputes, and professional negligence disputes.

He has assisted on cases in the High Court, including the Business and Property Courts of England and Wales and the Commercial Court, as well as the Court of Appeal. James also has experience of alternative dispute resolution.

Having joined Penningtons Manches Cooper as a trainee in 2019, James qualified as a solicitor in 2021. Before commencing his training contract, he worked as a paralegal at a leading intellectual property firm and several global law firms. Prior to this, James graduated with a degree in physics & management from Loughborough University and completed his legal studies with distinction.

  • Assisted on a successful summary judgment in the High Court in relation to breach of warranty claims under an SPA on a disputed sale of a software company.
  • Provided support for the successful mediation of a group action professional negligence claim relating to failed property investments.
  • Assisted with advising a former director of an asset finance software company to defend a claim for breach of statutory, contractual and fiduciary duties.
  • Helped facilitate an action advising an accountancy firm in a partnership and property portfolio dispute.
