Areas of expertise: Social housing

Profile

Jack is a paralegal in the social housing team in Basingstoke. He has a wide range of experience of working for housing associations in securitisation, asset management, commercial property and shared ownership matters.

With particular expertise in securitisation transactions for housing association borrowers, he routinely deals with releases, reallocations and top-up certificates and has formed good relationships with the key parties in the sector, including security trustees. Jack also helps housing associations to secure both small and large portfolios of properties. He carries out reviews of property schemes to assess mortgageability and valuation potential and rectifies deficiencies when encountered to maximise funding opportunities.

Jack assists with the review of section 106 agreements and nominations agreements during the development process to make sure there are no drafting issues which might lead to issues charging the properties at a later date. As well as securitisation, he deals with asset management matters for clients such as lease extensions and lease renewals, acquisitions and disposals (including large scale stock rationalisation).

Recent work highlights

  • Assisting with the delivery of the security aspects of a £100 million private placement for Midlands-based housing association Bromford.
  • Liaising with a local authority to agree a standardised nominations agreement for new and existing schemes for a housing association.
  • Acting on the sale of two supported housing schemes to a local authority.
