Henrietta Mason, Senior Associate at Penningtons Manches


Henrietta is recommended in The Legal 500 and advises on all aspects of contentious private client work, acting for individuals, beneficiaries, executors, trustees and charities in both domestic and international disputes. Her key areas of focus include contested trusts, encompassing disputes between beneficiaries or for and against trustees; contested wills and succession; estate administration disputes; claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975; constructive trust and proprietary estoppel claims; validity of lifetime transactions; and negligence.

A former vice chair of the International Private Client Committee of the ABA Section of International Law, Henrietta is current vice president of the Private and Family Law Commission of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA); and a member of the Wills and Equity Committee of the Law Society, tasked with preparing specialist practice advice for the profession and working with the Law Commission on updates to the law. She is also a co-author of the practitioner text book Probate Disputes and Remedies (Goodman, Hewitt, Mason) and writes for a range of legal publications, including co-authoring a column on wills and probate in New Law Journal. She is a regular speaker at conferences in England and abroad.

Henrietta qualified in 2003 and joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2016 after 14 years at the London office of a leading international law firm and was appointed partner in 2018. She is a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS); STEP, the world's leading organisation for private wealth professionals; and the Charity Law Association.

  • Acting on a cross border burial dispute concerning the repatriation of a deceased person’s remains in Qatar.
