Emma is a senior associate in the private client and tax team in Basingstoke, advising on a variety of private client matters.

In addition to drafting wills, setting up trusts and drafting and registering powers of attorney, Emma assists with complex estate and trust administration and advises on the availability of business property relief and agricultural property relief. She helps personal representatives with the administration of deceased individuals’ estates, including the use of post death restructuring. 

Emma is a fully qualified member of STEP, the world’s leading organisation for private wealth professionals, and has successfully completed the course run by the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). She qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2018 from another leading UK law firm.

Recent work highlights

  • Advising Camelot winners, including a Euro Millions winner, in relation to their private client matters.
  • Advising executors on a complex agricultural property relief claim resulting in a large reduction in the anticipated inheritance tax liability.
  • Negotiating with HMRC on behalf of personal representatives in connection with an account in another jurisdiction which came to light 15 years after the death of the individual.
