Francis is an associate in the marine, trade and energy team in the London office, specialising in commodities, shipping and aviation disputes. He has acted in international arbitrations under LCIA and LMAA rules and in litigation at the Commercial Court in London. His clients include trading companies, financial institutions, insurers, charterers and ship owners.
Francis’ predominantly contentious practice has a sector focus on commodities (both hard and soft), trade finance, energy and natural resources, aviation and shipping (wet, dry and construction).
Before he joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2020, Francis worked at a well-regarded City of London shipping firm. Previously, he has also acted in a senior role in the UK Government, managing disputes up to Supreme Court level and subsequently advising on a state parliament inquiry in Melbourne, Australia.
