Profile

Emily is an associate in the clinical negligence team in Guildford. She acts for clients across a range of serious injury cases, including claims against private clinicians, general practitioners and NHS trusts.

Having gained experience in helping clients come to terms with life-changing injuries, Emily has developed her expertise in obstetric and gynaecological injuries, delayed diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the breast and cervix, cardiac, bowel and ophthalmic conditions, pressure sores, and fatal cases involving bereaved dependent spouses and children. She also assists more senior members of the team on a variety of high value claims including spinal injuries, amputation, Cauda Equina and catastrophic brain injuries.

Emily joined Penningtons Manches Cooper in 2017 from a leading regional law firm where she trained and qualified in 2014.

Recent work highlights

  • Achieving a settlement of £105,000 for a woman who developed a recto-vaginal fistula following a negligently performed hysterectomy. She required a stoma bag for over 12 months.
  • Assisting with the valuation and settlement of a multi-million pound claim for a young girl with cerebral palsy.
  • Achieving a settlement of £45,000 for a young woman who lost the vision in her left eye as a result of a delay in diagnosis and treatment of a cavernous haemangioma.
  • Settling a claim for £100,000 for a woman who developed lymphoedema in her dominant arm due to delayed diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
